Biography

Valentin Mirceski is full professor at the Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, R. Macedonia. He got his PhD degree at the University of Zagreb, under the supervision of Milivoj Lovric, the prominent theoretician of pulse voltammetric techniques, from the institute Rudjer Boskovic, in Zagreb, Croatia. Supported by the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt foundation, he conducted a post-doc research stay in the group of Fritz Scholz, a world leading electrochemist, at the University of Greifswald in Germany.

Valentin Mirceski has a broad scientific interest in the area of electrochemistry, in particular electroanalysis, theoretical and experimental studies of electrode mechanisms and kinetics, theory of square-wave voltammetry, electrochemistry at liquid interfaces, electrocatalysis etc. He has published more than 100 articles, with a Hirsch factor h = 26, ranging him among the most cited scholars from Macedonia. Hi is an author of the monograph Square-wave voltammertry: theory and application, as well as one of authors of the Dictionray of Electrochemistry published by Springer.

His teaching activities at the home university concerns general chemistry and electrochemistry. Due to its international reputation, he has been appointed in several occasions for a visiting professor at the University of Brest in France and University of Lodz, Poland.

In 2006, at the international congress of electroanalysis in Bordeaux, France, he has been awarder by the European Society of Electroanalytical Chemistry and France Society of Chemistry with “ESEAC 2006 Young Investigator Award”, for the best scholar up to age of 40 years. In Macedonia, he received one of the highest national awards from the Ministry of Education and Science, “Goce Delcev 2007” for exceptional contribution in the scientific development of the country. The same year he got a medal of the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodus”, and latter on, in 2015, a plaque of the University of Lodz, Poland, for a longstanding scientific cooperation and fruitful scientific publishing. In 2014, his publication Electrode Kinetic Measurements With Square-Wave Voltammetry at a Constant Scan Rate (Electrochimica Acta, 114 (2013) 667) has been selected as the most innovative work for 2013 including a young scientist (his collaborator Dariusz Guizejewsky), by the scientific comity of the international congress ESEAC 2014 in Malmoe, Sweden.

In spite of the substandard conditions for scientific work in his small home country, he developed intensive scientific cooperation at international level, including the couple Milivoj Lovric and Sebojka Komorsky-Lovric from Zagreb, Croatia; Fritz Scholz from Greifswald, Germany; Francois Quentel and Morice Lehr from Brest, France; Richard Compton from Oxford, Great Britain; Markus Hoth from Saarland, Germany; Dariusz Guziejewski and Sławomira Skrzypek from Lodz, Poland; Bozidar Ogorevc from Ljubljana, Slovenia etc.

In 2004 he established the alimni association „Humboldt and DAAD Club – Macedonia” with a purpose to promote the values of the scentific research work and interantional coopeartion in his home country.
