Assistant Professor Dr Leon Stojanov

Biography

Leon Stojanov was born on May 18, 1993, in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. In 2011, he completed his secondary education at the high school “Rade Jovchevski-Korchagin,” and in the same year enrolled in undergraduate studies at the Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje. During the final year of his undergraduate studies, he completed a three-month summer internship in the laboratory for quality control of catalysts in the automotive industry at Johnson Matthey. He graduated in 2015 in the field of electrochemistry with a thesis entitled “Evaluation of the Synergistic Antioxidant Effect of Vitamin C and Glutathione” under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Valentin Mirčeski. After graduating, the candidate continued to conduct research and work in the field of electrochemistry, as well as to lead practical classes at the Institute of Chemistry for undergraduate students. In the same year (2015), he enrolled in master's studies, which he completed in 2017 with the thesis “Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Nanoparticles,” also under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Valentin Mirčeski. Towards the end of 2018, he enrolled in doctoral studies at the Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, in the field of electrochemistry. In 2020, he was employed at the Institute of Chemistry as a teaching assistant, a position he still holds today. In 2025, he obtained his PhD with the thesis “Novel Pulse Voltammetric Techniques: Theory and Application.” From 2016 to the present, he has participated in several international projects, numerous scientific conferences and workshops (both as a participant and as an organizer), and has authored multiple scientific papers in international journals in the field of electrochemistry, most of which have an impact factor. During the same period, he also completed several research stays abroad at institutes in Slovenia, Norway, and Germany.
