Course objectives (competences):
Through classes, students should acquire knowledge about the basis of immune processes. Students will become familiar with the characteristics of the immune response and the function of human organs and organ systems involved in defense mechanisms. Also, the student will get to know the techniques used in immunology.

Course content:
Components of the immune system; Basics of the immune reaction; Immunogenicity and antigenic specificity; Immunoglobulins; Major HLA histocompatibility complex; Lymphocytes: t-cells and b-cells; Interleukins and interferons; Phagocytic cells; Complement system; autoimmunity; Tumor immunology; Early hypersensitivity; Immunodeficiencies
