Course objectives (competences):
Interactive teaching should enable students to communicate effectively through reading, oral, written and visual presentations in a style appropriate to the topic, the situation and the listening/reading audience.

Course content:
1. Introduction. Definition, role and importance of interpersonal communication. Types of information transmission: oral, written and visual. Development and use of appropriate language, vocabulary and style.
2. Communication skills for oral expression. Fundamentals of rhetoric. Effective preparation and public speaking. Body language: movements, gestures, looks, physical appearance.
3. Communication skills for written expression. Language, vocabulary and style. Drafting; revision; final version and approval.
4. Communication skills for multimedia presentations. An introduction to creating and using effective video projections.
5. Communication skills in science. A conceptual approach. Effective presentation/explanation of theories, laws and methods.
6. Communication skills in a chemistry laboratory. Effective organization, display and presentation of experimental data. Learning through demonstration, individual and group performance of laboratory experiments.
Exercises: Individual presentations and performances. Work in small groups. Mock debates. Audio-visual recordings of public performances and their analysis.
