Course objectives (competences):
Through interactive teaching, to introduce students to the role and responsibility of chemists in the field of ethics.

Course content:
INTRODUCTION. 1. Defining, role and meaning of ethics. 2. Theories in ethics:
(a) Theories that advocate absolute moral and ethical standards
(b) Theories advocating cultural relativism
3. Brief overview of classical ethics (Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Augustine, Kant)
PROFESSIONAL ETHICS - ETHICS FOR CHEMISTS
4. Ethical obligations of the chemist
(a) To his profession and workplace. (b) Towards the environment (environmental ethics). Code of Ethics. (c) In industry (chemicals, food, water, chemical waste...). Code of Ethics. (d) In pharmacy and medicine. Code of Ethics. (e) In scientific research and experimentation. Code of Ethics. (f) In education. Code of Ethics. (g) In presenting and publishing results and papers. Falsification, tuning and plagiarism. Code of Ethics. (h) When reviewing other people's works, projects, etc. Code of Ethics.
5. Management ethics. Code of Ethics.

(a) Current ethical topics for chemists, in the world and in our country.
(b) Compilation of ethical codes.
